Десять лет назад четверо мальчишек из маленького городка Магдебурга (Германия) создали группу, которая вскружила голову миллионам фанатам по всему миру. Сегодня эти четверо мальчишек выросли и превратились в настоящих мужчин, повсюду претворяющих свое глубокое музыкальное видение зрителям.
После почти пятилетнего перерыва, группа вернулась на сцену с совершенно новым стилем, оригинальным звучанием и новым альбомом "Kings of Suburbia". После тура по Европе парни привезли в Америку шоу "Feel It All - Клубный опыт", создавая неповторимую клубную атмосферу для фанатов на маленьких концертных площадках и давая им возможность максимально приблизиться к себе. "Sound & Silence" встретились с легендарным квартетом за кулисами клуба "House of Blues" в Чикаго, чтобы поговорить о главной идее тура, об изменениях в группе и новых, невероятных и волнительных проектах парней.
читать дальшеSound & Silence: Тур Feel It All очень и очень отличается от всего того, что вы делали раньше. В нем есть эта неповторимая интимная клубная атмосфера. Расскажите нам о главной идее сегодняшнего шоу. Поделитесь с фанатами и кратко расскажите о том, что же происходит за кулисами?
Билл: Наш новый альбом для этого тура получился более электронным. Поэтому мы решили, что хотим играть в клубах и на небольших концертных площадках и по-настоящему взаимодействовать с публикой, и устроить масштабную вечеринку. Мы подумали, что, конечно, играть на больших аренах очень здорово, но в этот раз было бы здорово выступать на маленьких площадках и превратить их в ночные клубы, где мы могли бы зажигать со всеми на вечеринке под электронную музыку. Нам понадобилось много времени, чтобы свести все в едино. Мы репетировали месяцами. Этот альбом было особенно сложно перенести на сцену, потому что у нас в группе всего лишь 3 музыканта, так что нам пришлось пораскинуть мозгами, чтобы найти способ воспроизвести студийное звучание альбома на сцене вживую. Мы попробовали много абсолютно нового для нас, использовали новые инструменты.
Tom: Not everyone. Just the three of us.
Bill: I'm not playing an instrument at all, but we're trying new things. It has been a lot of fun so far. We've been touring Europe. The production is great. We wanted to try something new visually, something that hasn't been seen. We have video production going on, costumes, amazing new lights.
Sound & Silence: Where did you derive the inspiration for this new identity?
Tom: I think it was surprising for the fans because they waited so long. For us it was a transition because we took one year off after Humanoid. We went back in the studio after a year and it took us four years to produce this record. It was a long transition being in the studio, writing new songs, getting inspired. Bill and I moved out to Los Angeles, away from Germany. We started a new life as well, on a private level. The creativity evolved overtime as well. For us, it was a slow process, but for everyone else it was a little surprising.
Bill: You have to keep it fresh, sometimes. We started so young and of course you want to change things when you get a little older. The taste is a little different and life is changing as well.
S&S: You wrote many incredible songs and now you are focusing on a completely separate project - writing a book. Tell us a little bit about this new endeavor.
Bill: Tom and me are writing and it is a dream project. I love to write and I always wanted to do it. The idea is we take our life and put a fictional twist on it. We take parts of our lives and mix it up with a lot of made-up characters. In the end, we leave it to the audience to decide what is real and what is not.
Tom: It's not an autobiography. It's a novel.
Bill: We're writing in German, but then of course there is going to be an English version.
S&S: In the previous years, your albums have been released in both languages, German and English. Why did you choose to not do a German album this time?
Bill: To be honest, for the last album [Humanoid], the [German version] felt forced because we thought that the audience was expecting that. The audience and the record company was demanding it. So, it felt forced. We always had to translate everything and it didn't feel natural to us. This time, I was writing in English. I was thinking in English, I was dreaming in English and I think it was also because we moved to America. So I kept writing in English and I didn't want to force the translation because there are so many things you just can't translate. I feel like a lot gets lost in translation. Sometimes it just doesn't feel right. We just wanted to leave it as it was because it was already written in English.
S&S: What would you like fans to take away from this Feel It All Club Experience?
Bill: I just want the fans to have a night to remember, with lots of fun and a dream come true. I hope that they feel the connection with us and the music.
